FAQs

  • How is Suhaku different from ordinary hydrogen inhalation therapy?
Suhaku is different from ordinary hydrogen inhalation therapy in two distinct ways. First, therapists combine hands-on treatments with hydrogen inhalation. Second, the environment and atmosphere at Suhaku Space is especially designed for therapeutic effect. Hydrogen inhalation is available at other clinics and spas, but only Suhaku offers a fully holistic therapeutic experience.
  • What are the hands-on complementary therapies that Suhaku therapists combine with hydrogen inhalation therapy?
Suhaku therapists are trained in a number of different disciplines including hand, foot and facial reflexology, head massage as well as stimulating ear points. Suhaku therapists combine the different techniques in their treatments.
  • How is the hydrogen taken into the body?
Clients inhale hydrogen into the body in combination with oxygen. Suhaku uses world leading molecular hydrogen inhalation devices that optimise the flow and concentration of hydrogen and oxygen to provide the maximum benefit per minute. The devices generate hydrogen at a concentration which is safe and designed for health benefits.
  • How quickly does the hydrogen take effect?
Inhaled hydrogen can reach the whole body within 10 minutes, and will take effect within 15 minutes. For maximum impact, Suhaku Space offers inhalation sessions for 30, 45 and 60 minutes.
  • What are the side effects of hydrogen inhalation?
There are no known side effects of inhaling a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen gas is absolutely safe, reacts with oxygen free radicals, and converts them into water (H2O), which is eventually excreted from the body.
  • How does the device generate hydrogen gas?
To generate hydrogen gas, an electric charge is passed across a platinum plate immersed in an electrolyte solution. Morio-Labs, Suhaku’s parent company, has researched and tested a range of Japanese hydrogen inhalation devices. Morio-Labs continues to monitor advances in hydrogen inhalation technology and is confident that the devices in Suhaku Space are currently the best on the market.
  • Can I buy a hydrogen inhalation device to use at home?
Our home appliance will deliver hydrogen at a lower concentration compared to the hydrogen delivered in Suhaku Space. Nonetheless, a home appliance will have a therapeutic effect, with the advantage that you can use it as often as you like in the comfort of your own home. If, after you have had a series of Suhaku sessions, you are confident that our home appliance is right for you, you can buy Suhaku home appliance from Suhaku Space in South Kensington. We do not sell home appliances online; clients must first experience the benefits of hydrogen inhalation at Suhaku Space.
  • Is there academic research about hydrogen therapy?
Hundreds of research papers have been written about hydrogen since 2007.
  • Is hydrogen therapy available on the NHS?
The NHS does not offer hydrogen therapy. However, in Japan, doctors have been using hydrogen since 2007, after Dr Ohta’s research was published. In clinical settings in Japan, hydrogen inhalation therapy is used to treat cancer, heart disease, diabetes and mild dementia.
  • What is inflammation and when is it a problem?
From Harvard Medical School: Inflammation is the body's natural response to protect itself against harm. There are two types: acute and chronic. The acute type occurs when you bang your knee or cut your finger. Your immune system dispatches an army of white blood cells to surround and protect the area, creating visible redness and swelling. The process works similarly if you have an infection like the flu or pneumonia. So in these settings, inflammation is essential: without it, injuries could fester and simple infections could be deadly. Chronic inflammation, on the other hand, can occur in response to unwanted substances in the body, such as toxins from cigarette smoke or an excess of fat cells (especially fat in the belly area). Inside arteries, inflammation helps kick off atherosclerosis – the build up of fatty, cholesterol-rich plaque. Your body attempts to wall off the plaque from the flowing blood. But if that wall breaks down, the plaque may rupture. The contents then mingle with blood, forming a clot that blocks blood flow. These clots are responsible for the majority of heart attacks and most strokes.
